Welcome to NLYAA Football!

Our program is coordinated by a committee of dedicated parents, coaches and team parents. Our goal is to provide a fun yet educational atmosphere for all players by promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, safety, responsibility and self-discipline.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • The following positions are open for the 2018 season:

  • Help is always needed at all events.  Please consider getting involved.   


Registration Information  

  • All registrations must be completed online. There will be no in-person registrations
  • Registrations will be opened from April 15 until May 31
  • Late registrations, if accepted, will be charged a $10.00 late fee
  • The following items need to be submitted at equipment handout:
    • Current wallet size head shot of the player- must be current for all players
    • Copy of your child's birth certificate (do not need if child participated in previous season {2017})


Sign Up Fees

  • NLYAA Fee is $10.00 per player (Lifetime memberships are no longer for sale but will continue to be honored)
  • All fees must be paid via the online registration website.
  • Visa and MasterCard Gift Cards can be used via the online registration system.


Steak Fry Fundraiser

  • There will be a mandatory $50.00 purchase of Steak Fry tickets due at time of registration.
  • Additional tickets are available for purchase at $25.00 per ticket
  • If you cannot attend the event, you may sell your tickets to someone who can.
  • Steak Fry will be held the end of August.
  • Event is held at the Slatington Skeet Club.
  • The Steak Fry is for those 21 and older.  This is a great opportunity to get to know other parents that have children in the program.


Designer Purse Bingo Fundraiser

  • Designer Purse Bingo is held the first Sunday in March.
  • The Bingo is held at Diamond Fire Company in Walnutport.
  • Tickets for the bingo are $25.00 and include 20 regular games and 5 special games.
  • We are always in need of basket donation and baked goods.


Refunds

  • The NLYAA fee for the current season can be refunded if requested by the end of the first week of practice. 
  • Any requests made after the first full week of scheduled practice will not be honored.
  • Fundraising sales cannot be refunded.


Parental Duties

  • All parental duties will be signed up via Sign Up Genius.  A link will be sent via email prior to the start of the games.
  • Your child cannot play football if you are not signed up for your duties.
  • If you fail to show up for your parental duties, your child will be benched for that game and every game until your requirements are met.  If you fail to meet your duties on the last week of the season, your duties will carry over to the next season.       
  • Parent/guardian must be present at all practices and games.


Rookie Team - Instructional- Head Coach - TBD

  • The child must turn 4 years old before October 31 current football season *no exceptions*
  • The child cannot turn 6 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • No weight limit.
  • No contact.
  • No score is kept.


Flag Team - Competitive - Head Coach - Tim Whalen

  • The child should turn 6 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • The child cannot turn 8 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • No weight limit.
  • Score is kept.


Junior Varsity (JV) Team - 105 pound team - Competitive - Head Coach - Scott Rothrock

  • The child should turn 8 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • The child cannot turn 10 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • The player must be 105 pounds or less to run the ball.
  • The player cannot exceed 130 pounds.
  • This is the former 90's team.


Varsity Team - 120 pound team - Competitive - Head Coach - Matt Newhard

  • The child should turn 10 before September 1 of the current football season.
  • Any 12 year old that is in 7 grade cannot turn 13 in the calendar year and must be 105 pound max to play.
  • The player must be 120 pounds or less to run the ball.
  • The player cannot exceed 155 pounds.
  • This is the former 110's and 130's team.


Equipment

Equipment Handouts will be held:

  • Rookie and Flag Team -Tuesday, July 10 6:00-7:30
  • Varsity 120's -Wednesday, July 11 6:00-7:30
  • Junior Varsity 105's - Thursday, July 12 6:00-7:30
  • Make Up Date - Monday, July 23 6:00-7:30
  • All players must come to equipment handouts. 
  • Players must try on their equipment to ensure proper fit.  This is required for safety and no exceptions will be made.
  • Players are required to purchase cleats.  They must be molded plastic cleats.  No metal or screws in cleats are permitted. 
  • Equipment will be handed out in the equipment shed behind the middle school.


Equipment Returns

  • Equipment is due 1 week after the conclusion of the season.
  • Players and parents are financially responsible for any equipment that is not returned or is damaged at the end of the season.
  • If equipment is not returned by due date, parent will be required to pay an equipment deposit before receiving equipment for the next season.
  • If equipment is not returned at all, your child will be placed on the inactive list until equipment is returned.


Season Schedule

Football Fun Camp

  • Football Fun Camp is a program to help work on fundamentals needed for football. 
  • Football Fun Camp will be held on:
    •  120's and 105's Tuesday, July 24, Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00
    • Flag Team on Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00
    • Rookie Team on Thursday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00
  • No gear is to be worn except cleats. Coaches will notify you if a helmet is needed.
  • Please bring water.


Practice Schedule

  • Practice will begin Monday, July 30
  • 120's and 105's program practices:
    • Scheduled from 6:00 - 8:00.  Coaches can reduce or extend the time as needed.
    • Practices are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
    • Once school starts, practice will be reduced to 6:00 - 7:30 and will no longer practice on Monday evenings.
  • Competitive Flag program practices
    • Scheduled from 6:00 - 7:30. Coaches can reduce or extend the time as needed.
    • Practices are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
    • Once school starts, practice will be reduced to 2 days per week Tuesday's and Thursday's.
  • Rookie Flags practices
    • Scheduled from 6:00 - 7:30. Coaches can reduce or extend the time as needed.
    • Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday.
    • Once school starts, practice will be reduced to 1 day per week on Thursday's.
  • We require that one parent or guardian remains onsite during practices and games.
  • A parent or guardian is required to sign in and out their child at the start and end of every practice and game.  If you need someone else to take your child home, we need written permission to do so.
